My Last DT Layout With Sketchabilities!

Can you believe it? It's that time already, my term is done with Sketchabilities and it seems like I just started! I am so happy that I got the opportunity to work with Karen and all the other talented DT's, it's been an amzing adventure! Also good luck to the new DT, I can't wait to see what you do!!!

Without further adieu here is this weeks beautiful sketch:

SKETCH

Here is my take on this week's gorgeous sketch:

The photo is of who else but my photo genic camera hog oldest daughter! I cannot believe how much she loves being photo'd her father and I absolutely loathe the camera in our faces!

I used an older K&CO collection here, yep still trying to weed out all the stuff I have been hoarding! But the papers are just so gorgeous and I cannot believe I've waited til now to use em......You can see that my new trend of distressing ecerything I can continues here in this layout! I wanted to create a little more of a country feel to this page...not sure if I quite accomplished that but I love the results anyway!

The flowers are mostly handmade, paired with some brown Prima's, all topped off with bling!. If you look real close you can see that I cut some hearts out of burlap and tucked them here and there. You will also notice that I distressed some of the flowers.....now this is s time consumming job I might add....I love the results but as I've said before patience is not my virtue!

Here is a close up of the gold lattice patterned sticker, I purchased this at my LSS ans it's actually just a generic brand, but I thought the color worked well here.

I believe the mini alpha stickers are KI Memories....I will double check this, I used my cricut to cut the word Beautiful out and just went arount the edges with some distress ink on a cutip to get the edges a lil grungy looking. You can also see the burlap I used behind the photo. If you just cut the size you need amd fray the ends a lil it really gives a gorgeous look to your page! If you look in the top right hand corner you will notice some music notes....I just used gold ink and randomly stamped these here and there on the page, I kinda like the look! I also have more handmade flowers above the Prima journal spot. Speaking of this spot I wanna share a quick tip with you.....we all know that scrapping is an expensive hobby and can be unforgiving on the wallet! You can make these or any spot go further by cutting them in half......I was using the whole thing and placing a whole half side behind papers or photos pending where and how I used them...and I was thinking what a waste.....so I started cutting them in half!

Ok here is my VERY FIRST ATTEMPT of using alcohol inks.....I have had a pack forever and I wanted to try em out! now I know they wont work on reg paper and will just soak right in....so I wanted a grungy look anyway so I first coated the cage in embossing paste after I cut the bird that was already inside the cage out very carefully. After I used the heat tool to dry the cage I went to town with the inks and then when those were dry I hit the cage here and there with a silver ink pad for a more metalic look. I'm still not convinced I used the ink right but the cage looks good anyway....I will have to investigate these inks some more! I replaced the ugly bird that was on the inside with this pretty K&CO birdie....pretty huh!!

Well that about sums this page up ladies, I hope you enjoyed, thanks for visiting and I love to read your comments!

A LO To Share and Sassy Lil Sketches Reveal Day

Ok for those of you who follow my work may have realised I DO NOT use the color purple....I consider myself somehwhat purple chal;lenged if you will, lol. However I see purple items and other people's page's and I think I want to do something with purple and then I try and it seems to be a disaster......But guess what ladies..........I did it....I did it.....I used purple!!!! Check out my page below....what do you think?

Ok ok....are you looking at the page going errrr you said you used purple?!?!? LOL for some reason the purples are more apparent IRL.....sorry. But you can see some purple and even some is more than I usually use!

So what do you think? Should I still consider myself purple challenged and quit while I'm ahead or do you like what I've done? I reaklly want to hear you opinions!

The photo is of my oldest daughter from a few years ago. The background paper is Prima paired with some generic lace and some old MME scrap pieces. The Cherished title is Kaisercraft and the flowers are fabric! Yep those of you who know me, know that I love to fussy cut floral printed fabric and use it on my pages!

Heres a few quick close up's for you:

Once Upon A sketch Layout

Check out this amazingly gorgeous sketch from Once Upon A sketch!
Beautiful isn't it!
I love the oportunities it allows for!
Check out the challenge details here.

Here is my take on this wonderful sketch!

I love the romantic feel this layout has......the colors and textures almost remind me of lingerie or something! The photo is from this last summer of my youngest daughter. I used various punches and lace to create the layers and fabric for the lovely flowers. I will post deatils below in my close ups.

Ok if you do not have a Bazzil stitching template set, don't walk....RUN out and go buy some! They are amazing to play ith and give your pages the most lovely look! Seriously, it looks like alot of work, but really it's not...believe patience is not my virtue!

As I said above the blooms are actually fabric, which if you have read my blog in the past you know I am a huge fan of fussy cutting florals from fabric pieces and using them on my layouts! It gives a one of a kind unique look, and honestly I get more for my money! Also very easy to do, but requires minimal patience...not much but a little!

I purchased a cheapie acrylic set of alpha stamps....I am still learning to stamp so my title is not perfect, but I'm improving! The bird is K&CO!

Here you can see more fabric floral close ups and my bow! I wanted to try something different with my ribbon rather than let the ends hang and this is what I came up with! Very romantic looking! The heart in the center is from a cheapie pack of buttons I purchased at Walmart and just used wire cutters to chip off the loop hole on the backside of it! You may also notice the rub on I placed directly onto the photo, it says "The Greatest Gift" I do believe each and everyone of my children are a gift to my DH and I and we cherish them on a daily basis!

Well that about sums my layout up, just a quickie I wanted to share, if you have any questions feels free to ask and thanks for taking a peek, I ejoy your comments!

Burlap and Buttercups Sketch Challenge

I have been so busy creating DT projects most of this year, it's been so rare that I've had an ooportunity to create anything for other challenge blogs! Don't get me wrong I absolutley enjoy my DT work, but once ina while it's fun to get a chance to branch out as well! I am excited to share TWO layouts I created using the sketch provided by Burlap and Buttercups for this months challenge!

But wait folks there's a twist, you MUST include stitching!

Check out my take(s) on this sketch below!

This is a photo of my oldest daughter, she loves the camera on her! Crazy girl! The photo is just a snapshot I took at our local zoo, fortunatley it has many great places for great photos!

The tiny flowers surrounding the doily are actaully paced there to cover up a doodling disaster.....don't ask, lol! The bird cage was cut using the songbird cricut cartrdge and I just painted it gold, because I didn't have any gold paper. I found all these wonderful buttons in the clearance rack at Joanns, so I have been loving gold latley to enhance the gorgeous buttons which are working well for flower centers! I also added some pearl puff paint to enhance the cage a bit. I attached it with some pop dots and then fussy cut some flowers from a Colorbok collection and adhered them as well as the G45 fairy with pop dots also!

The banner is also cut with the cricut and I used some Tim Holtz distress ink to make it look a lil older! The pink flowers are Prima, the white ones are Studio G and the daisy's are punched using a few Marvey Uchida punches and a llil distress ink. If you look closley you can see that I also added stitching on my circle shapped pp inside my doily!

LOVE this burlap ribbon! It is amazing and the fact that it's wired is even better! You can see all the yummy distressing in this close up!

This layout also features photos of my oldest daughter, she is a total phone hog! I created this page as kind of a therapy for my own self, DH and I are discussing getting her a cel phone next summer. We had agreed a while back that we would not until she turned 16, but with changing times and all the sports she's involved in I think it may be a wise choice to do so sooner rather than later although we really don't want too. You can see here that I used the sketch and just flipped it sideways!

I createde this banner with some left over cordinating scraps, you really don't need to measure unless you want it perfect when creating these, I just eyeballed this one...it only took me llike 12 minutes to make maybe even less.....The flowers are fussy cut from a Bella Blvd. collection! Still can't wait to get that line in my LSS!

The sun and clouds are fussy cut from an old DCWV collection, works great for this page and almost looks like it is part of the Sassafrass pp collection that the circle is made from!

I love the look of mixing and matching different alphas.....although I admit I'm not very good at doing it....I haven't tried much though!

I hope you have enjoyed my pages and I love you comments!

My Creative Sketches

My Creative Sketches

So theres an AMAZING challenge going on over at MY CREATIVE SKETCHES! I usually never participate in many challenges outside of Scrapbook.com, but this one was wayyyy to awesome to pass up! Check out the details with the link I posted!

Here is the challenge sketch:

Here is my take on the sketch:

I love the way this page turned out. I was going for a vintage shabby chic look and I'm pretty sure I aced it! It has such a romantic feel to it! The photo is of my my middle daugher, and honestly IRL the shadow on that photo doesn't seem that dark. The background paper is from some of my, My Minds Eye stash, I used embroidery floss to stich around the edges and then used scissors to grunge up the edges, which happens to be one of my new fav techniques.

Don't you just love that look!

Aren't thos flowers GORGEOUS! To my surprise I went to Walmart the other day and they all this new scrapbooking stuff, ColorBok brand I believe. These flowers were fussy cut from a page that was in one of the paper pads that I bought. The swirls were also from Walmart off the $1 rack! The butterflies were handstamped and I cut them out. Here you can see some of the details of the stitch work I did. The 'love' title was fussy cut from a Webster's Page's Hollywood collection, I love the look it gave the page!

Here is a gorgeous close up of more of those beautiful flowers I fussy cut!  You can also see the lace deatils, I am obsessed with lace these days I can't get enough of it! The butterfly is another that I stamped and cut out! I think maybe I should have mist or chalked it but it didn't look bad on the page as is so I left it.

The 'Life's Portrait' sign is also cut from the Webster's Page's Hollywood collection.....that took so much time to cut the detial is so small, but I love the feel it gave the page!

I hope you have enjoyed my page, TFL

NOW FOR A LIL SHARING

I am sooooo proud of this layout I created last week, I really had alot of fun playing with it and trying new things. I am on this new kick of trying to bring out the most possible from every layout I create.....it take s alil extra time, but it's worth it! However I did make one huge blunder on this page....can you spot it?

The photo here is of my oldest daughter on her 9th birthday. Gosh that seems so long ago now, she's growingt up so fast already in jr high! Check out that missing tooth on the bottom, lol I miss those days with her, I wish I could keep her my baby forever!

The mirror behind the photo is from Webster's Pages Ladies and Gents collection and uis what inspired this whole page. I knew i wanted to do something with the mirror but I wasn't quite sure what. I kinda just let the layout take me where it ewanted to go.
I am still using up alot of older paper stacks......it seems my trend is to buy new lines...hoard them away and use the older stuff?!?!? This background paper is from an old K&CO line I believe.....I love the pattern on it...so french looking! I roughed up the edges and did some minor doodling around the edges.

The brown music sheet paper us actually cardboard that I did a messy stamp job on. Some of you may know I am not a stamper at all....I rather consider myself to be HORRIBLE at it....but I liked the look of this and the messy feel just blended in....and I am practicing at stamping too.....so maybe you will see something cool from me with stamps in the future?!?!? We'll see. The pinkish tan patterned paper layered over the cradboard is from an older My Minds Eye collection and the gingham frame above the paper is so old I don't even know what brand it is. I bought it back in 2006.......As I mentioned above I made a huge blunder on my page......if you look above the photo and to the left of the mirror you will see a white spot.....the photo was actually supposed to go above this so as not to show the white paper behing the gingham frame. I think I may have put the doily to low therefore confusing the photo placement.....I hate when you love a page but have an eyesore when it's all done, lol.

The flowers are a combo of flowers fussy cut from the original Webster's Page's paper, some punched flowers and some older Prima's. The Grateful title is Teresa Collins. If you look really close you can see my stick pin on the right side of the mirror.

This is the left side of the layout and you can see I added another small cluster of flowers here along with a Prima journaling spot and finished it off with a small strand of pearls. I added these because if you look on the mirror theres a strand draped over the top. The leaves are actually another stamp I used on green cardstock and then fussy cut....I think they turned out just great.

The title is from the Home Decor Cricut cartridge. I loved how the black just popped off the page.

Hope you enjoyed my page
