Hi there and thanks for stopping by!

Today I am super excited that
MY CREATIVE SCRAPBOOK
and
Stuck?!Sketches
have teamed up for a super awesome
BLOG HOP!

I have created a layout based on the sketch from Stuck?!Sketches using My Creative Scrapbook's
September Limited Edition Kit!

This kit is chalk full of gorgeousness and goodies from Prima Marketing and Blue Fern Studios!
I absolutely loved creating with this kit, it was so well coordinated, with high quality supplies that my layouts just came together with ease! In fact the layouts I created with this kit are probably some of my most favorite layouts I've created in quite a while.

MY TAKE ON THE SKETCH!!

For this layout, I found a gorgeous photo of a jar of pink lemonade. I not only choose to scrap this photo because it matched my paper, but the photo spoke to me by bringing back delicious, summertime memories as well as reminded me that it's totally acceptable to make some sweet lemonade when life hands you lemons! A great reminder for us all!

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed my layout and are inspired to create as well!! I love reading your feedback, so be sure to leave me a comment! If you have any questions, leave me a comment, contact me by email or you can find me on Facebook!

My Creative Scrapbook 'Piggy' Layout

Hi there and thanks for stopping by!

Today I am sharing a layout I created using
September Limited Edition Kit!

This is a layout I created using a cute little piggy photo! I began the layout by distressing all the layers to give it that grungy textured look that I love so much!! By adding distressed layers, it's creates depth and dimension to the layout. I added a beautiful flower cluster with delicious Prima Marketing flowers as well as some fussy cut flowers from the kit. I finished off the layout by adding some paint splatters with some pink and white acrylic paint
as well as some color bloom spray also found in the kit! I then gave everything a quick white wash with some white gesso to mute everything down and help blend it all together.

My Creative Scrapbook September Kit 'Cuteness' Layout

Hi there and thanks for stopping by!

Today I am sharing a layout I created using
September Limited Edition Kit!

This is a layout I created using a cute little ducky photo that just spoke to me.
I began the layout as always by distressing everything to give it that grungy textured look that I love so much!!

I like to get the absolute most from my kit's so I am in the habit of even using the packaging when available, which I have done here with the layering behind the photo. It was made from a piece of the box the kit came in, just cut done to size. I then continued the grungy theme by using a white gel pen to draw a messy layered frame around the photo. I love the look and dimension this creates, not to mention it breaks up a large uninhibited space. What I mean by that is prior to creating my frame, my phot had a large area that was just trees in the background, while it's pretty, it just looked like something was missing. The frame broke that space up, and gave the photo added dimension.

I love, love, love the chipboard that came in this kit, and it matched my photo so well!! I decided to leave it raw because it matches the wood on the dock that the ducks are standing on as well as just continues you that look of nature that I was going for with this layout. However, I did add some small splatterings of white acrylic paint to break up the solid look of the chipboard as well as to tie it into to the rest of the layout by muting it down a bit. To finish off the layout I added a cluster of fussy cut flowers from the kit.

For the title, I used the white Thicker Alpha's that came in the kit I altered them by first using a dobber and some Tim Holtz Distress Paints, then giving it some color dimension by giving it a light spray coat with the Gold Prima Color Bloom Spray that also came in the kit. This tied the colors together as well as continued the nature theme of the layout.

I used the beautiful yellow Prima Flowers from the kit as well as some yellow fussy kit flowers from the floral patterned paper, also found in the kit.

I Finished off the layout by using some green water colors beneath the phot and flower cluster as well as some paint splatterings with white acrylic paint and gold color bloom spray. I then tied everything together by giving it a quick white wash using white gesso to mute everything down and help blend it all together.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed my layout and are inspired to create as well!! I love reading your feedback, so be sure to leave me a comment! If you have any questions, leave me a comment, contact me by email or you can find me on Facebook!

Hi there, thanks for stopping by!
Today, I want to share another creation using
August Limited Edition Kit!

This is a bit out of my element as I normally don't do many altered items, but I had so much fun with this, I can definitely see more in the near future!

Now who can have a St Tropez ocean themed collection without an anchor right?!?

This was really easy to make actually, I just laid the anchor atop my patterned paper and lightly traced it in pencil. After cutting and ensuring it was a good fit, I used my Invild Bolm Distress Tool to rough up the edges. then adhered the paper to the anchor. Now in hind sight, I should have painted the edges of the anchor before adhering the paper, but I was still able to paint it with the paper on it, I just had to take extra care not to let my painty fingers smudge the paper. to finish the anchor off, I layered flowers and embellishments from the St Tropez collection that were included in this kit, as well as some cheese cloth for added texture. Once again I gave everything a white wash coating to blend and make it all cohesive.

Thank you again for stopping by, I hope I have inspired you to create something gorgeous! I love reading your feedback, so be sure to leave me a comment! If you have any questions, leave me a comment, contact me by email or you can find me on facebook!

My Creative Scrapbook August Limted Edition Kit Layout

HelloThere!
Thanks for stopping by, I hope your having an amazing summer!

Today, I have another layout using
August Limited Edition Kit
to share with you!

This was actually a really quick and simple layout, with minimal detail. I kinda felt like the paper, embellishments and photo were gorgeous enough without a lot of extra detail added. I choose this phot, because one day I'd love to see the Eifel Tower in person. I have seen the one in Las Vegas, but somehow it's just not the same! There is something about Paris that romanticizes the whole idea! Literally all I did for this layout was layer a photo over some doilies before adding a couple of flower clusters and sentiments. I finish off the layout by adding a bit of splatter paint and a white wash coating over the flowers to mute down the colors a bit and help everything to blend a bit!
Simple, yet elegant!

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed my layout and are inspired to create as well!! I love reading your feedback, so be sure to leave me a comment! If you have any questions, leave me a comment, contact me by email or you can find me on Facebook!

My Creative Scrapbook August Reveal

Hello Everyone, thanks for stopping by!

Today I am super excited to share some close up's and details of my first layout using
August 2017 Limited Edition Kit!!

This kit features the lovely St Tropez kit from Prima Marketing as well as some beautiful Blue Fern Studios!

I had a lot of fun creating with this kit! In fact, it might just be my favorite one I've designed with for My Creative Scrapbook!

As you can see with the layout above, I layered and distressed the papers before adding some texture and dimension with some water colors, distress inks and Prima stamps.

Here is a texture view of all the layout on my layout. I've combined crumbled up doily edges with some gorgeous Prima flowers as well as some delicate pink fussy cut flowers from the St Tropez collection. I also layered in a bit of raffia ribbon from my own collection just for added dimension and detail.

 Another close up

This close up features a beautiful bicycle from the St Tropez Collection, It just seem to fit so perfectly with the color scheme, but more importantly, I could envision this gorgeous bike riding out in front of these gorgeous homes, it just seemed to fit and add character to my layout! I embellished it with more Prima flowers and fussy cut flowers.

In this close up, you can see where I've distressed the paper edge and pulled back a bit to reveal the paper beneath the layout. Atop this, I've added another fussy cut flower to add dimension, but to also continue my theme of delicate gorgeousness!! I also added a bit of journaling to the edge of my photo, for those of you who have followed my work over the years, you may know that journaling is something that I'm pretty bad about including on my pages. However, seems how it's one of the most important elements on scrapbooking, I have been trying to make a conscious effort to include it on more of my layouts lately.

This is a close up of the top left side of my layout. Again featuring Prima flowers as well as some fussy cut flowers from the collection.

Another close up!

To finish off my layout, I gave everything a whitewash with gesso to tone down and mute the colors, to blend and make everything a bit more cohesive!!

My CReative Scrapbook January Limted Edition Kit Tututorial

Hello everyone!!
Today, I have an easy technique tutorial to share with you all today using the My Creative Scrapbook  January 2017 Limited Edition Kit.

I'm going to show you all how to white wash your projects. It happens to be one of my favorite go to techniques and you will see this in just about every single one of my projects, whether it's a layout, card, tag or some other type of project! White washing tends to give your projects a toned down, soft, cohesive look, and can definitely give some added texture!
Lets get started!!

You will need:
white gesso of your preference (I prefer heavy gesso)
 paint brush
something to squeeze your gesso onto if your not accustomed to squeezing it directly onto your paint brush (I just used some flower packaging)

**note: something I forgot to add in my photo of supplies needed is the larger brush I use, which is actually not a paint brush at all but a cheap make up brush. the tip is so thick and soft and I have found this to work best on large areas as well as when covering a large background space, such as a layout.

STEP 1:

Once your project is complete and the glue is dried you can apply a white wash to it. You begin by squeezing a small amount of gesso onto something disposable or washable such as a paint tray. If this is your first time working with gesso you might want to start with a smaller amount on your brush until you are comfortable with applying it to your project and have a feel for the amount you need for the look you are wanting to achieve. There is no set rule to how much or how little you can apply to your project, it's all about how dark the items you are covering are as well as how toned down you want the project to look. To apply it to your project you just start lightly applying and randomly spreading the gesso over the things you'd like covered, You can apply gesso to just about anything on your project, it is not limited to paper and flowers, I have even applied it to ribbon and trim to tone them down and blend them in.  I personally like to start from the inside out, but however you work is up to you. Keep in mind while doing this that the coverage does not have to be full but instead random....this gives it a textured, distressed look and feel.

Beginning to apply the gesso to the flowers

Gesso completely applied to leaves and flowers

Applying gesso to chipboard frame

Applying gesso to some rafita ribbon I applied beneath the flowers

finished applying gesso, my project now is now white washed!!

The nice thing about gesso is you really can't mess your project up, as it blends in so nicey if you just smooth out anything you don[t like with your paint brush or finger. The biggest tip I have to offer is don't be scared of mixed media supplies, they are really less daunting than they might seem. The best way to get started is just to give them a try, try different techniques on a scrap paper and supplies and see what does and does not work for you, you might be surprised!

Like I said, this white washing is a super easy technique, anyone can do it and with so little effort it can really transform your projects!

Thanks for stopping by, I hope this was helpful and you are inspired to create your own masterpiece!
